I enjoy what I do as a therapist and I have over ten years of experience. I’m originally from Georgia but now reside in the DMV area by way of California and Colorado. My approach is supportive and straightforward. I’ll listen to you vent, but I’ll also help you to process and identify patterns that aren’t serving you. I do my best work with clients who are motivated for change, who may have experienced religious trauma, or just want a different result in their romantic or platonic relationships. Above all, I’m a systems therapist and I love helping my clients draw the connections between childhood relationships and their current relational challenges. I use an individualized approach which means that I don’t believe that one size fits all. Sometimes you just need someone to ask the right questions that help you to think and do differently. There are times when you don’t need a mental health diagnosis, you just need to make different decisions and change your situation. I enjoy traveling, reading, binge watching tv shows and learning more about people. I have the degrees, the PhD, and Marriage and Family Therapy training to help you but most importantly, I genuinely care and I want to help you grow into the best version of yourself individually and in your relationships.

I’ve wrestled with reconciling spirituality with the religious ideals I was taught. My journey has been one of learning how to manage stress, intentional personal growth and radical self acceptance. It is this knowledge and experience that I bring into my practice and in my work with clients.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know if you are the right professional for me?

The process of finding a therapist or coach that is a good fit can be challenging. We offer a free 15 minute phone consultation where we can talk about your needs and what you’re looking for. You can ask questions about our experience, background, and personal approach.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

All sessions are held using a secure and easy to use video conferencing platform. We currently do not offer in-person sessions.

How long do appointments last?

Sessions last for 50 minutes which is standard for outpatient therapy sessions. If you’re interested in a longer session (90 minutes) for individual therapy or coaching please contact us regarding pricing and availability.

How often will we meet?

We ask clients to come either weekly or bi-weekly for the first few sessions of therapy. It’s important for us to set goals together so that the experience is beneficial for you. As you continue in therapy we will discuss your preferred appointment frequency based on your needs. We offer discounted 3, 5, 10 and 15 session therapy and coaching packages where you pay a flat rate and can schedule sessions at your convenience within a 12 month period from our initial session.

Do you accept insurance for therapy services?

I currently do not accept insurance. However, I can provide a Superbill to submit to your insurance to request reimbursement. Please check with your insurance to make sure you have out-of-network benefits. Please note that I will need to diagnose you with a mental health disorder in order for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance. It is your responsibility to find out the information from your insurance company and submit the claim. I accept all major credit and debit cards through Ivy Pay, a HIPAA secure payment service, Paypal or Stripe. Some of my clients also chose to use their HSA account to pay for sessions. My session fee is $170 for Individuals and $220 for couples.

How much will I get reimbursed from my insurance?

Reimbursement rates differ between insurance companies, so you should contact your insurance provider by calling the customer service number listed on the back of your insurance card and ask about mental or behavioral health benefits. You may also want to ask what amount is covered for each out-of-network therapy session, the number of out-of-network therapy sessions that your plan covers and whether approval is required from your primary care physician.

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

While both therapy and coaching can have long lasting positive benefits, there are some significant differences between the two. Therapy sessions focus on healing the hurts of the past and managing mental health symptoms through a variety of evidenced based approaches. Therapy is conducted by a licensed mental health professional who assesses your symptoms and provides a diagnosis. Therapy can be limited by location as state law often dictates that you reside in the same state as your therapist.

Coaching sessions are future oriented and help you to function at a higher level. Services are not covered through insurance and you can go at your own pace without oversight from your health insurance. You do not receive a mental health diagnosis and you do not need to live in the same state as your coach. Coaching is a great fit for individuals who are looking to make lasting changes in their life and reach personal goals. It can help you to recognize and address limiting beliefs that are standing in the way of your success. If you’re looking for a more solution focused and directive approach, a better fit for you may be coaching.
